Adam Penning is a natural storyteller, a passionate angler and a man whose obsession with carp fishing has taken him on a remarkable journey. Following the success of his first book, Rolling in the Deep, Adam returns with another captivating collection of tales from a life spent pursuing some of the country’s most elusive and desirable carp.
From the challenges of The Great Outdoors and the historic waters of St Ives, to the mysteries of Wick Mere and the demanding banks of Grendon, Adam takes the reader deep into the heart of his angling adventures. These are stories of determination, instinct and relentless pursuit, where countless hours of preparation can culminate in a single unforgettable moment.
With his trademark honesty, infectious humour and eye for detail, Adam brings every experience vividly to life. His evocative writing and intimate diary extracts transport you straight to the water’s edge, sharing the highs and lows, the triumphs and frustrations, and those extraordinary moments that make carp fishing such an enduring obsession.
But, as ever with Adam, there is much more here than simply catching fish. This is a celebration of the places, the people, the friendships and the memories forged along the way. At times poignant, frequently hilarious and always compelling, this is another deeply personal account of a life lived in pursuit of something special.
The journey continues, the obsession remains, and the stories are far from over…
